pedagogikos istorija statusas T sritis švietimas apibrėžtis Pedagogikos šaka, tirianti ugdymo idėjų, teorijų, mokyklų, švietimo organizavimo ir veikėjų darbo raidą nuo seniausių laikų iki mūsų dienų. Pedagogikos istorija tiria, ką nauja yra davę atskiri ugdymo veikėjai ar pedagoginės minties autoriai. Pedagoginis palikimas vertinamas pagal naujumo, originalumo kriterijus. Pirmieji pedagogikos istorijos tyrinėjimų leidiniai pasirodė tiktai XVII a. pabaigoje. Tai buvo prancūzo K. Fliori, vokiečio D. Morhofo darbai. XVIII ir XIX a. daugiausia nuveikė vokiečiai, XIX a. viduryje – amerikiečiai ir rusai. Lietuvoje didesni pedagogikos istorijos darbai buvo išspausdinti XX a. I pusėje: Esmaitis. Pedagogikos istorija. – K., 1930; Gobis J. Trumpas pedagogikos istorijos kursas. – K., 1930; Maceina A. Pedagogikos istorija. – K., 1939. XX a. II pusėje sustiprėjo domėjimasis Lietuvos švietimo ir pedagoginės minties istorija. Pažymėtini šie darbai: Vilniaus universiteto istorija.
